Getting to Moscow

Moscow is the biggest city in Russia and one of the greatest cities in the world, so it's no wonder that so many people want to visit and travel to Moscow. Because it is such a large and powerful place in Russia, it's easily accessible by all different types of transportation. Visitors coming from nearby or from anywhere in the world will find a way to get to Moscow.

By Plane
Because it is such an important city in Russia and it has so many people coming and going, Moscow actually has four different airports. There is the Sheremetyevo International Airport, Domodedovo International Airport, Vnukovo International Airport, and Bykovo Airport. Both Sheremetyevo and Domodedovo receive flights from all around the world, so if you are traveling to Moscow from another continent or country far away, you will most likely land in one of these two airports. The two other airports, Vnukovo and Bykovo, have more domestic flights than international ones. Once you arrive in one of the four Moscow airports, you can get into the city center several ways. All airports have bus and taxi service, or a place where you can rent a car. Several of the airports also have express trains into the center of the city.

By Train
If you're coming from elsewhere in Russia or many locations in Central Europe or Asia, travel by train might be the best option. The Trans-Siberian Railway runs throughout all of Russia. Once you arrive in Moscow, you have a choice of train stations. There are nine different train stations in Moscow, so you should figure out which one is closest to your hotel or where you are going and make sure that your train stops there.

By Bus
Moscow is serviced by the Eurolines bus company. You can get buses from various locations into Moscow with this line. Buses in Moscow will arrive at the Shelkovskaya Metro station.

By Car
It is also possible to drive to Moscow. There are a few roads that lead into Russia from Europe that you can take. However, if you drive keep in mind that you will need to have a visa once you cross into a different country and any cars with license plates from other countries are stopped outside of Moscow and questioned.
